Linda Kelsch Political Info:

Who are you as a candidate?

I am a candidate for House of Representative District #53.

Why were you willing to run for office?

I feel citizens have the right to change what they don't like about government. I believe voters are discouraged with the infighting and mudslinging and government control of the two main parties. I am passionate about the right to exercise free will.

What do you feel you offer the voters in your race?

I offer voters the opportunity to return to the ideal of US government "of the people, by the people , and for the people." The founding Fathers warned against too much government, because it leads to tyranny. They espoused and fought for a Republic. I offer voters a chance to remove laws and government policies that do not serve the people.

What does Personal Choice mean to you?

Personal Choice is the foundation of the American dream. It is the freedom to pursue happiness and tolerate the choices of others where there is no harm.

What issues are most important to you?

1. Taxes. There are hundreds of nonprofit, non-government organizations already serving the needs of the people and supported with private funding by people who have a genuine interest in serving their fellow man. The focus would then be people helping people.

I propose putting the tax money which is forcefully extracted from the American people back into the hands of the people who earned that money and let them use it to support the organizations of their choice. Government spending is out of control. The American people work hard to earn that money and should have the right to choose where they spend it.

2. Education.  I intend to support legislation that offers tax credits for education. Children's specific needs and learning abilities are best understood by their parents. Parents should be empowered to choose the educational program for their children that is best suited to their interests, ability, ethnic background and personal preference.

3. Marriage rights.  Government needs to get out of the business of marriage. Intimate relationship is a private affair .

How would you apply Personal Choice to the issues you mentioned?

1. I would propose a system of gradually changing most government bureaucratic agencies to private enterprise, offering education programs to private citizens which would empower them to govern themselves and take accountability.

2. I intend to sponsor legislation that would systematically put education into the hands of private enterprise, non-government organizations, and Scholarship Grant Organizations. The only other direction government has created in its ineffective spending is to extract more taxes. Government has proven that more taxes does not equal better education. It does produce a greater burden on the average American taxpayer.

3. I would oppose any laws regulating marriage. I would propose amendments to any legislation that restricts any private contract concerning relationship between consenting adults.

In what matters do you feel you should have more Personal Choice rather than Government involvement?

Education, marriage, taxes, firearms, and drugs.
